Individual and Relationship Therapy in Bristol

“When I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers

Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Individual Counselling

I offer Gottman Method couples therapy and individual counselling in Bristol and online across the UK.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, particularly when we’re struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotional disconnection, past trauma, or major life changes. I provide a confidential, compassionate, and collaborative space where individuals and couples can explore the challenges they’re facing and work toward meaningful change.

I have particular experience supporting couples with communication difficulties, recurring conflict, intimacy concerns, parenting pressures, and rebuilding trust after infidelity. My couples work is informed by the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach developed through decades of relationship research.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from psychodynamic, person-centred, and gestalt approaches, tailoring therapy to your individual needs and experiences. My work is trauma-informed, recognising how past experiences can continue to shape emotions, relationships, and patterns of behaviour in the present.

Together, we can work to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, develop healthier ways of relating, and create lasting positive change.

In-Person & Online Therapy Options

I offer in-person counselling and couples therapy from my private practice in Westbury-on-Trym, North Bristol (BS9), as well as online therapy sessions for clients across the UK.

My practice provides a calm, confidential, and comfortable space for both individual counselling and relationship therapy. The office is easily accessible, with parking available and step-free access.

Online sessions offer a flexible alternative for individuals and couples who prefer to attend therapy remotely or around busy schedules.

Client feedback

“Michelle is an intuitive and empathic person who thinks about what has been said to her and responds accordingly, never using clichés. She understands human nature, drawing intuitively from that source as well as from her knowledge of psychology, history and sociology and an understanding of the cultural impact these things have on the development of a person.” – Raita

Michelle was an excellent listener and helped me to build confidence when speaking about difficult memories or situations. I hadn’t been to therapy before seeing Michelle and now I feel a lot more comfortable with the concept of counselling.” – Victoria

We would like to greatly thank you for your help. The strategies you have taught us have fundamentally changed the way we interact. I am sure we will face difficulties, but for the moment we are stronger than we have been in a long time and that is in no small part due to your help here.” – Simon and Laura

“Michelle has helped us notice and stop old patterns that weren’t working and start better patterns that are creating a virtuous circle of trust and connection.” – Anonymous

“I have found I feel considerably better and more able to process my emotions because of your help over the last few months.” – Ben
